Join one of Cal’s Angels Athletic Event
Whether it’s a 5K or a full Marathon, running for a cause is truly a rewarding feeling! When you cross that finish line, not only will you have achieved your personal goal but you will be making a difference in the lives of brave children fighting cancer and their families.
Our athletes have walked away with new friends, amazing accomplishments and the sense that they did something more important than just getting into good shape. They have made a difference!
Please join the Cal’s Angels Marathon Team as they cross the finish line at the Batavia Half Madness Half Marathon on August 28th, 2011 or Bank of America Marathon on October 9th, 2011.
As part of the charity we are asking you to fundraise a minimum of $350 per runner. We will have post close spots once the October 9th Chicago Marathon is sold out (does not apply to Batavia Half Madness). These spots will be available on a first come first served basis and will require a $950 fundraising minimum. The fundraising minimum is meant to be a low number. The average marathon charity runner raised $1,150. We would appreciate for you to set fundraising goals higher than our minimum. The more funds we raise, the more people that know about our mission “Granting wishes and providing financial assistance to kids fighting cancer and their families” and every $750 raised is a complete wish for a child battling cancer.
We will also provide you with online fundraising support with your own team’s customized web page via active.com. We will also provide you with a fundraising letter 6 weeks before your race. Feel free to customize your own. We suggest you send this letter/e-mail to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers. If you run both the half/full marathon you only have to raise one amount. Every dollar you raise will make a difference in the lives of these brave children
By Fundraising for Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation and joining one of our teams or forming your own team you will receive the following:
• Kick-Off Event on June 4th at The Great Western Trail (St. Charles)
• A proven training plan to assure you finish your race
• Training group for your level of experience (Running Groups)
• Online information connecting teams or individuals for group runs
• Guaranteed Bank of America Marathon (October 9th) race entry
• Cal’s Angels dri-fit team shirt
• We will provide support and encouragement along the way and will be available to answer any questions
• Invitation for your supporters to join our cheering station on race day

• Extra motivation of running for a cause – Making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer and their families

• The knowledge that all money raised will brighten a sick child’s day.
Official training should begin the first week of June. If you have never run, you should consult a physician first and then begin doing cardiovascular activity for 30 minute a day and start a pre-training program in the spring. You can also contact or email Irene Eby for pre-marathon training groups.
Our Informational and Registration Meeting on February 8th was a huge success! We currently have a total of 40 registered runners between the two events and are actively recruiting runners so spread the word. If you, or anyone you know, would like to run for our cause, please remember to use the code “GONEMAD” for the Batavia Half Marathon and make sure to register under Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation when registering for the Chicago Marathon. Already registered and would like to switch over to our team?
Thank you to all of our volunteers that helped make the February 8th meeting run so smoothly, we couldn’t have done it without you: Andy & Cyndi Allamian, Darren, Sandy & Faith Allande, Lisa Castanon, Devin Castanon, Taksina Davis, Teresa Drawant, Nick Drawant, Jim Eby, Jerry Eby, Pam Iwanski, Alex Miles, Jill McCollough, Wendy Payton, Lisa Schnaittman, Theresa Solomon and Ginny Wolak.
Special THANK YOU to Geneva Running Outfitters for hosting a table and Power Bar Team Elite (Debbie Hodgett) for donating sports bars and gels – we’re hoping to have 100 runners cross the finish line in 2011, so please don’t hesitate to help us recruit those
Join one of our teams or form your own and be proud when you cross that finish line!
